Filipino cooking is a fusion of Chinese, Malay and Spanish cuisines.  Most Pinoy dishes fall under these cooking methods: boiling (nilaga), grilling or roasting (ihaw), steaming (halabos) or sautéing (guisado)/frying (prito).  Listed below are the equipment and tools you would need for a basic Pinoy kitchen.

    a.    Chef’s Knife for slicing meats and poultry and chopping vegetables, nuts, and herbs             
           –  6", 8" or 10” long, depends on what feels comfortable in your hand
     b.    Paring Knife for peeling, trimming, mincing – 3.5” long

    d.    Cleaver for chopping meat with bones
