1. Uninstall any programs that you do not use any more to clear up hard disk space. Do not delete any program you do not recognize because this might be a program or security application that Windows needs to run smoothly.
2. Protect your PCs from viruses and malware with utilities such as AVG, Norton or McAfee. Update these programs and run scans regularly.
3. Run Disk Cleanup regularly to clear unwanted files. Consider downloading CCleaner, a free utility which would clear up your computer’s registry .
4. Use Disk Defragmenter once a month to speed up your PC by organize files on your hard drive so that they can be accessed more easily.
5. Wipe the monitor’s screen with a soft cloth and dust your computer regularly. Use a vacuum with a brush attachment to clean the keyboard monthly.
6. Keep the computer in a well-ventilated area. Avoid placing your PC less than one foot away from strong magnetic fields such as those found around televisions and audio speakers. These could corrupt or erase data on your hard drives.
