Whether it be through a carefully-packed balikbayan box or a steaming bowl of adobo intended for a new neighbor, we Filipinos can't seem to stop ourselves from reaching out to others where ever we are.  We are always ready to share what we think, where we have been and what we have experienced.  We are even more eager to learn how things are in our kababayans' side of the fence.

The manghuhula or fortune teller is often a desperate person's last recourse. Anxious to find out how a pressing problem would be resolved, many choose to go to someone who can use tarot cards, palmistry, a crystal ball or other means to look into the future. Such things have become almost part of our culture that we are quick to dismiss the thought that there's anything wrong with using these tools to find out what lies ahead... especially since the vast majority who go to a fortune teller only go out of curiousity, or laro-laro lang.
